What is Horse Grooming?
Horse grooming is the process of cleaning and caring for your horse. Brushing the coat in the direction that the hair lies will remove excess mud, dust, and dander. Regular grooming will encourage healthy skin and fur, and this will create a soft, well cared for coat. Not only is horse grooming important for the health and care of your horse, it’s also an important bonding exercise between you and your horse. There are lots of different ways to groom a horse, all dependant on the requirements of your horse, or the activities you’ll be doing together.
Our grooming brushes and accessories are chosen for quality performance and value for money, we hope you and your horse enjoy them. For that extra added shine, check out our competition prep products.
Which is the most versatile horse grooming product?
We couldn't do without our Super Groomer - this simple tool made from recycled plastic can be used for removing dried mud and sweat and it's also great for massaging shampoo into horses when they are being washed. It is also very gentle on sensitive areas like faces. You can even use it on clothes to remove pet hair - such a versatile and handy product!
Which horse grooming products are the best for everyday grooming?
For everyday all round turnout, we would choose the Smart Grooming Everyday Essentials Kit which does what it says, and includes all the essentials! Hoof Shine for healthy and shiny hooves, a Super Groomer for grooming off mud and muck Xtreme Detangler for smooth and silky manes and tails, and Coat Sheen for the final coat finish.
Skincare for horses
Horses can have sensitive skin just like humans, and can often have similar problems like itchy skin or dry lips - so we have developed a range of products specifically to target and remedy these issues. Our natural equine skincare products are made with beeswax and essential oils for enhancing and healing.
Our Lip and Bit Balm is amazing for horses who suffer with cracks and flaky skin around where their bit sits, moisturising the area gently. It can even be applied to the bit to help encourage acceptance and softness as it has a peppermint flavour.
For horses with itchy skin, we recommend our Itch Soothe Balm is ideal for applying to itchy and sore areas. Made using natural ingredients including essential oils; shea butter, calendula and beeswax, it provides a soothing barrier and has proved successful on long standing skin irritations, like sweet itch problems, as well as encouraging healing and hair regrowth.
